DRAMA FINAL EXAM - JUNE 2021

FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS. Complete everything. Be brilliant! You have about 2 weeks to work on this so create a schedule and stick to it. Do not save this until the last minute. We will be going over 'chunking' in class, so you understand how to create your 'work schedule timeline' See me if you have any questions.

1) Submit your proposal (GOOGLE CLASSROOM) by NEXT CLASS MEETING (20 POINTS). THIS INCLUDES the following 3 areas -
A) Your name and the people associated with your project (if family members - just say family. If another students - type their name)
B) What do you plan on doing - Although it depends on the project you select but I need to know what it is. So - BE SPECIFIC. Do NOT NOT NOT just write that you are doing ‘G’. I can help you
‘figure it out’ if you need some advice.
C) I MUST OK your proposal

2) Select one from the following list. Remember - this is your final project and will take time. If it does not show time - if it was put together at the last minute - you will NOT receive credit for it - really serious about this.
A. A 5 minute video (uploaded to YOUTUBE - so I can show it to the class) of how drama class can help everyone in real life. Remember - this is 5 minutes in length and you need to host this. You may act out examples to illustrate the points you are making. See me to talk this out - and get ideas.
B. A different monologue than the one you did last semester. This needs to be memorized and on video - and uploaded to youtube so we can see it in class. I will help you figure out the monologue to perform
C. 5-10 minute ORIGINAL film. You MUST be in the film. If you are doing this with someone from this class - both students need to be in the film at some point. You may also use others in the film. You need to have an idea first - and have it OKed by me.
D. Perform a song from a musical (either one we saw in class - or a different musical - I can offer suggestions.) You can do this along with the actual song - or without musical background.
E. Children’s Theatre - You will need to create an AMAZING mask (I will show you examples) and an AMAZING story for the character. You will BE the character telling your story IN CHARACTER) This is not the mask you did in the beginning of the year - this needs to be much more detailed and the acting needs to be spot on.
F. Puppetry! Create puppets out of items around your home (you need to research this a bit) and ‘put on’ a puppet show (you need to voice all the characters - and the show will be about 5 minutes with a beginning, middle and end) You need to film this and upload to Youtube so we can see it in class
G. Write a children’s story - and pretend you are reading it to a classroom of little kids. You need to be VERY DRAMATIC and act out all the parts as you read. There needs to be at least 4 characters in the story - and the story needs to make sense. Remember - this is for little kids! The story should take 5 minutes to perform/read
H. A dramatic reading of a story (at least 4 characters) to a small child/family member. This needs to be filmed and uploaded to Youtube so we may see it.
I. Write and perform a new song to be added to one of the musicals we saw in class. It must be original. You may use family members to help you sing and perform it
J. Write a new ending to any of the musicals we've seen in class (Script format)
K. If you have your own idea - you MUST talk with me first! In other words, I need to OK it.

ADDITIONAL DIRECTIONS for PROJECT
1. You will work alone or as stated above
2. You must do most of the work - you may use family members - and - if in classroom - another student
3. If you are shooting a film - you need to be in the film as well
4. If you are filming - you need to be able to upload it to Youtube - so we can see it - or on the device that you can get into ZOOM
5. You will complete the individual reflection questions .
6. All work must be completed ON TIME. Due date will be announced. (FINAL PROJECT MEANS SCHOOL WILL BE DONE- GRADES FINISHED - SO NO LATE WORK!)
7. You will sign up for your presentation time - so make sure you are here to present
8. If you have any questions - NOW is the time to ask - NOT a day before this is due!
9. You WILL have class time to work on this - and I recommend you use it (I am happy to let parents know I gave you time in class to complete this)
10. EFFORT = AN AMAZING GRADE

HELPFUL HINTS
If you are acting (monologue, character story, etc…) the following questions will help you develop your character. Be thoughtful and take time with this. Familiarize yourself with the story and character
1) What are your first impressions and thoughts?
2) Ask yourself "What is this monologue/scene/story about?"
3) Ask yourself "What am I saying?" (this is you as the character).
4) What is the beginning of your story
5) What is the middle of your story
6) What is the end of your story
7) What does the character(s) want?" This is your character’s motivation - his OBJECTIVE. This is the driving force or energy behind what you are saying and doing.
8) Ask yourself 'Where am I during this monologue/scene/etc.?"9) Who am I talking to? What is my relationship with this person (or people). Make this up if there are no clues - and it MUST be LOGICAL

PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!!!!!!!! If this looks like you did this at the last minute - you will not receive credit and will not have the opportunity to re-do. Step Up! Use the time wisely and put effort into this. Go Mustangs!

********INDIVIDUAL REFLECTION PAPERS - COMPLETE ANSWERS!!!!!!! (5 points each)********
1. What did you learn during the process of creating your project?
2. What did you do that was great?
3. What could you have done to make your performance/presentation/project even better?
4. What did you learn about DRAMA that you didn’t know before?
5. What are 5 valuable things you have learned in this class, thus far, and how will each help you in other areas of education and/or 'real life' ? In other words, how would taking Drama benefit anyone - NOT just actors?

FINAL DRAMA PROJECT RUBRIC

Student Project
50 The project was great, insightful and thorough - shows much thought and planning.
