Strategic Planning

September 1, 2023

Salesian Family,

We are excited to share with you the launch of our Strategic Plan, which will guide our school's growth and development over the next several years. Hundreds of our Salesian community members, including donors, alumni, parents, staff, elementary school partners, and students, committed countless hours over the course of the last year to help develop this strategic plan. This plan represents a collective vision of where we want to be and how we plan to get there, ensuring that Salesian High School continues to excel in providing the highest quality education while upholding our core values as a Salesian, Catholic school.

Our vision is to be the leading Salesian, Catholic college preparatory school that empowers its students to become responsible and conscientious citizens to create a more just society. To achieve this vision, our strategic plan focuses on four key pillars which are aligned with the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Secondary Schools (NSBECS):

1) Mission and Catholic Identity
 a) Raise greater awareness and understanding of how Salesianity is lived within and beyond the school
 b) Expand student support services related to college counseling, learning challenges, mental health and wellness issues.

2) Governance and Leadership
 a) Cultivate networks within and beyond the school community to bring necessary expertise and resources to Salesian.

3) Academic Excellence
 a) Increase academic rigor and student performance
 b) Enhance college preparedness and scholarship opportunities
 c) Attract, retain and support highly effective, mission-driven faculty and staff
 d) Create specialized programming and activities (i.e., Pathways, career exploration, internships, mentorship) reflective of the individual needs and desires of each student

4) Operational Vitality
 a) Generate new funding for need-based aid, just compensation, and academic and facility needs
 b) Grow enrollment to optimal level by 2025 – 2026
 c) Prioritize facility, tech and equipment upgrades to ensure exemplary student outcomes rooted in the Salesian values of home, school, church and playground
 d) Strengthen alumni and alumni parent research, communication, engagement and solicitation to extend the Salesian lifetime experience

Implementation of this strategic plan will begin immediately, and we will continually assess our progress to ensure we stay on track to achieve our objectives, We will also maintain open communication channels to seek feedback from all members of our school community and adjust the plan as needed to address emerging challenges and opportunities.

Together, we embark on this journey toward excellence, fostering a culture of continuous gradual improvement and providing the best possible formative experience for all students at Bishop Mora Salesian High School. We appreciate you support, dedication, and partnership in making our vision a reality.

Thank you,

Alex Chacon
President
Bishop Mora Salesian High School

Fall 2022 Strategic Goal review and planning

The Strategic Planning Committee gathered to review feedback from focus groups.  The committee generated a prioritized list of strategic goals based on the feedback and survey results gathered from the school's various constituencies. A final ranking for each goal was determined, and a near-final draft of goals was sent to select constituent groups, including staff, students, and parents. The goals and timeline for implementation will be finalized in early 2023.

Spring 2022 Strategic Planning Focus Group Meetings

Nearly 100 representatives from various school constituent groups were invited to participate in focus group meetings to share their unique perspectives of the Salesian High School community. The following groups were consulted for feedback:

Students

Faculty

Partner School Principals

Parents

Recent Past-Parents

Alumni

Salesians

School Board

We wish to thank all who participated in our focus group meetings. A school-wide survey for all constituencies will be sent in early February 2022 to solicit additional feedback as part of our data-gathering process.

Fall 2021: Salesian Strategic Planning Begins!

In addition to the WCEA Accreditation process underway at Salesian, we have also begun strategic planning for our school’s future.  The strategic plan will be the bridge that takes us from mission to vision.  We are grateful to a wonderful group of staff and volunteers who have agreed to lead this initiative.
