Dear Parents and Guardians,

Global awareness is more essential than ever for our children, and the best way to become globally aware is by traveling abroad. Experiencing new cultures not only opens students’ eyes to the world, it also prepares them for the future.

More and more colleges and universities are looking for international experience on students’ applications to set them apart. Travel is not just educational; it is an investment that gives your child an advantage in a competitive world.

With that in mind, I’m excited to announce that a group of students and teachers from Bishop Mora Salesian are traveling on THREE educational tours:

JAPAN in APRIL 2016, PERU in JUNE 2016 and EUROPE in JULY 2016

On this tour, students will experience new cultures and visit important landmarks like Mt. Fiji and Machu Piechu.

We’re hosting a meeting to discuss this opportunity in detail and answer any questions on Tuesday, January 27 at 6:30pm. If you and your child would like to attend, you can RSVP by emailing me at [email protected] or calling [626] 484 5119.

UNIVERSITY EXCURSIONS

Every year thousands of high school students across the country are given the opportunity to visit various colleges and universities in order to help them better understand the options that are available to them when it comes to deciding where to go for their college education. Visiting a university campus can provide students the opportunity to obtain critical first-hand knowledge necessary for them to make an informed decision that will significantly impact the remainder of their lives. It is with these thoughts in mind that Salesian High School and members of the Alumni Association have organized tours of several universities across the U.S. Formal guided tours have been scheduled with the universities. In addition, Alumni that have attended these universities accompany students and staff to serve as their personal tour guides. These Alumni will make themselves available to answer any questions that the students might have with regard to going to college and living away from home. Our first Univeristy Excursion was to Chicago in 2007. Now we have expanded to Boston, New York, Oakland, San Francisco, Bay Area and adding more.

Families of these students contributed some of their own money and worked hard by fund raising to help defer some of cost. If you would like to help fund or plan an excursion to your Alma Mater, please contact Mr. Vidaurri at (323) 261-2174 or [email protected] or Mr. Chavez at [email protected]
