Coach Atkins is entering his third year as head coach at Salesian and 13th in total. Prior to his return back to Salesian, he served as the defensive coordinator/assistant head coach at  St. Pius Mathias X for two seasons. Prior to that, he was the defensive coordinator at BMSHS under head coach Angelo Jackson.  Coach Atkins played his collegiate football at the University of Washington and Jackson State University, where he was awarded all honors and 1st team all SWAC. After college is had a short career playing professional football with the Jacksonville Jaguars (workout) Oakland Raiders (try-out) IFL Wenatchee Valley Venom, Alaska Wild, And The Nebraska Danger.  He received his Bachelor's Degree from Jackson State University in 2009 and his Masters's in 2019. He has 2 children. Amaya age 11 and Anthony III age 6.

Erik Gomez is an alumnus of Salesian High School class of '97 and has been a member of the coaching staff since 2017. This is his 16th yr. coaching H.S. and youth football. A Boyle Heights native.  Started his coaching career at Salesian in '06 thru '09.  Took time off H.S while still coaching the Boyle heights Wolfpack and 1 yr. with the Downey Mustangs.  Coach Gomez was part of the first-ever football staff at Esteban Torres H.S as OL and DL coach '12 thru '14. Coach Gomez prides himself as not just a football coach but more importantly a LIFE coach. Coach Gomez married his H.S sweetheart and 24 yrs. later has 3 amazing children. Erik Jr 13, James Leo 9, and Esme Lenna 8.  He is retired after 20 yrs. from the U.S. Postal service and currently is employed Part-time for LA Metro. "Always act as "IF"!  

Carrillo

Coach Carrillo is entering his 20th year of coaching and his first as Defensive Coordinator for The Mustangs. He was formerly the Head Football Coach at Miguel Contreras Learning Complex in Downtown Los Angeles. Coach Carrillo led the Cobras to 3 straight playoff appearances in 3 years and the school’s first league championship in school history. From 2010-2016 he was the Defensive Coordinator at Abraham Lincoln High School under his father Albert “Woody” Carrillo winningest coach in school history and spent 2009 at Pasadena City College as Running Backs Coach. Coach Carrillo works for The City of Los Angeles as a Wastewater Operator. He resides in Valinda with his wife Melissa and son Brando. He played for 4 years at Saint Francis High School under legendary Coach Bill Redell and current Coach Jim Bonds.

Coach Featherstone is entering his 12th year of coaching. He previously was the Special Teams Coordinator for the 2016 Bishop Mora Salesian Football team. He returned to Salesian in 2019 as the Quarterbacks coach. Coach Featherstone was an assistant football coach at Inglewood High School, Pierce College, and St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy. He received his BS in Psychology in 2011 and then completed his MA in Elementary Education in 2014, both from the University of Phoenix. He is currently finishing his second MA in School Administration from National University. Coach Featherstone has been married to his wife Alison for 9 years.

Coach Butler is entering his 5th year coaching, his 2nd at Salesian. He started his college career at Southwest College playing defensive end, transferred to McPherson College played for 3 years, and graduated with his bachelor's degree in Physical Education and health. He is also the Co-Strength and Conditioning coach, Varsity Defensive-Line Coach, and JV Head Coach.

dhDylan is entering his second year at Salesian as the WRs coach and JV Offensive Coordinator He is also the Sprints and Jumps coach for the Mustang Track & Field team. Coach Hall spent his first 2 years coaching at Verbum Dei as the WRs/DBs coach. Dylan Hall is from Inglewood, CA, an alumnus of Verbum Dei High School (2012) also has a Bachelor of Arts from Minnesota State University Moorhead where He studied Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and a Minor in Advertising (2017). Coach Hall will be completing his master's in coaching and administration in the fall of 2021.

This is Coach Soto’s 2nd year at Salesian High School. I previous coaches running backs at South Gate High School for four years and helped resurrect a program that hadn’t had a winning season in 7 years, by making the playoffs our first year and reaching the City Section championship our 2nd year. I have married to Desiree Soto for 22 years and have a 21-year-old son named Randee, who played for Coach Atkins at Salesian.

This will be Coach Ashlee Palmer's 2nd season with the mustangs He Graduated from Lynwood HS (2005) then transferred to Compton College where he later received a full scholarship to play at Ole Miss under coach (Ed Orgeron). He played in the NFL 6 season's Buffalo Bills/Detroit Lions.

sCoach Sanchez is entering his 5th season coaching at Salesian high school. He is a 2015 graduate of Salesian high school. During his 4 years playing offensive line at Salesian (2011-2014), He played on the 2013 C.I.F. championship team and 2014 C.I.F. semifinal team. He attended California State University, Los Angeles in 2015 and will be receiving his BA in Communication Disorders in the fall of 2020.

Briana is entering her third year as the Head Athletic Trainer for Bishop Mora Salesian High School. She completed her undergraduate degree at California State University, Fullerton where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training. Shortly afterward she sat for and passed her boards of certification exam to practice as an athletic trainer. Briana also is completing her Masters in Bio kinesiology sports science degree from the University of Southern California. She is responsible for overseeing the acute recognition, care, treatment, rehabilitation, and referral of orthopedic injuries to the student-athletes at BMSH.
