Once a Mustang Monument
On Friday, May 17, 2024, the Once A Mustang monument was unveiled in front of a large crowd of alumni from all decades, families, friends and students.
In 2013, work began on a monument that would welcome all visitors to the Salesian campus. Renowned sculptor and Salesian alumnus, Dan Medina '86, created the stunning 18' monument which was installed on the school's plaza level. Aside from bringing the beautiful work of art by Mr. Medina to the Salesian campus, the monument was also envisioned as a way to grow the school's scholarship program, with all donations exceeding the costs of the project, including plaques purchased after the installation date, being used for the school's student scholarship program.
The nearly 3000 pound Mustang Monument faces Becchi, a small town in Northern Italy, the birthplace of the school's patron saint. It pays homage to St. John Bosco’s life and works that have inspired generations of young people around the world.
We wish to thank Mr. Medina for his generosity of "time, treasure, and talent" throughout the entire process.
Individual and Class Plaques continue to be installed as donations are made and as they are engraved.
Plaque Pricing:
The donation amount for an individual plaque is $2,500. Cumulative class plaques (Class year) are $1,500. Once a class reaches the $1,500 minimum donation amount as a class, a class plaque with the class year is ordered and placed.
Classes that reach specific leadership giving levels will have their class plaque engraved with a special coating as follows:
Bronze - $2,500+
Silver - $5,000+
Gold - $7,500+
Individual plaque amounts do not count toward class plaque amounts. Please note that only those donations made toward the Once a Mustang project will count for individual or class plaque credit.
