Leo Ruiz '98 Named New Baseball Coach

The Salesian High School Athletic Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Leo Ruiz (‘98) as head varsity baseball coach. Coach Ruiz has been a member of the Salesian faculty since 2016. He teaches in the Math and Science Department and is a certified Project Lead the Way engineering instructor, in addition to an extensive coaching background with MVP/Hustle Baseball.

Coach Ruiz has extensive coaching experience with MVP/Hustle Baseball, one of the top travel ball programs in the nation. MVP/Hustle helps hundreds of ball players develop their skills to compete at the highest level. Coach Ruiz has led MVP/ Hustle to multiple National Titles from ages 5 to 14.

Coach Ruiz is excited to share his experience and success from MVP with the Mustang baseball program and build on the success of former head coach David Sifuentes. “The goal is to build a program of accountability and bring a winning and competitive mentality to Salesian,” states Coach Ruiz.

Coach Ruiz is a 1998 graduate of Salesian High School, where he was a member of the Mustang baseball, soccer, and volleyball teams. Coach Ruiz earned a B.A. in science and holds a dentistry license.
