Salesian Senior Jose Chanchavac awarded Full Scholarship to attend Dartmouth College

Salesian senior, Jose Chanchavac has been selected as a Questbridge scholar, one of the nation’s most reputable four-year comprehensive scholarship programs for high school seniors. Chanchavac applied for early action to several schools, including all eight-Ivy league colleges as part of the Questbridge process, and was selected to attend Dartmouth College for the fall of 2018. Chanchavac earned a merit scholarship covering all of his tuition and fees for four years while he attends Dartmouth. Questbridge received over fifteen-thousand applicants this year and five-thousand were selected as finalists.

Chanchavac, a graduate of St. Matthias Catholic elementary school in Huntington Park has maintained a 4.37 grade point average in his scholastic career at Salesian while being part of the school’s cross country and track teams.  While at Salesian, Jose has been part of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honors Society, Humanitarian Club, and this year was selected by his peers to be the Associated Student Body President.

Jose Chanchavac will join fellow Mustang alumnus Luis Valdovinos '16 as the second Salesian student in three years to attend Dartmouth College.
