Mr. Mark Johnson appointed Principal of Salesian High School

April 20, 2018

Dear Salesian High School community,

I am excited to share that Mark Johnson has been appointed as Principal of Bishop Mora Salesian High School, effective July 1, 2018.  Following an extensive interview and discernment process, which included leadership from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Salesian parents, staff, students, and a representative from the Salesian Order, Mr. Johnson was selected as the chief educational leader and the 15th principal in the history of the school.

Mr. Johnson has served the Salesian High School community for 28 years and in that time has served in numerous capacities at all levels of the organization.  Mr. Johnson’s work at Salesian has included leadership as vice principal, teacher, guidance counselor, soccer and cross country coach, activities director, and admissions director.  Most recently, Mr. Johnson has worked for the past two years as the school’s development director, helping to raise much needed funding for the school.

Mr. Johnson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in American Government from Georgetown University and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration from Loyola Marymount University.  As Salesian moves toward the president-principal model, I am confident in Mr. Johnson’s ability to lead the academic, co-curricular, and spiritual growth of our school programming while maintaining daily operations at optimal levels.  With our school community’s support, I anticipate a smooth transition as Mr. Johnson has a thorough knowledge of our Salesian High School community and an eagerness to begin his new role.

I am grateful for the continued support of the Salesian High School community throughout our selection process and ask for your prayers and support of Mr. Johnson and for our school as we continue to build “a Home, a School, a Church, and a Playground” for all of our young men.

Sincerely,

Alex Chacon ‘94
