Code of Conduct

T E A M R U L E S

It is the mission of the Mustang Football program to promote discipline, maturity, fairness, and the idea that the “TEAM” is the Rock and the Rock is the Team. The following Team Rules have always been designed to uphold those ideals.

#1 – Be on Time
Attendance: “Missed practice will result in lost playing time.”
It is paramount that every player be at and on time for all mandatory games, practices, and TEAM events. When any player is absent or late, it diminishes the work and effort put forth by the rest of the TEAM. To stress this importance, any player who misses practice for any reason (including disciplinary action) cannot start in the succeeding game and is subject to loss of additional playing time. The amount of lost playing time will be a subjective decision made by the coaching staff and will be based on the reason for the tardiness or absence. Additionally, before a player is eligible to play in the next game, he must perform extra conditioning:
a. Tardy: Bear Crawl
b. Excused Absence Conditioning: 1 Dallas Miles + 50 up downs
c. Unexcused Absence Conditioning: 2 Timed Dallas Milles + 100 up downs

#2 – Wear Our TEAM Uniform with Pride

Uniform: “The appropriate uniform must be worn at all times.”
Every player is required to wear the appropriate uniform to all football functions. Having every player wearing the same uniform reinforces the idea that the TEAM is supreme to the individual. Every player must be in appropriate uniform before the start of practice or else he is considered tardy. The appropriate uniforms are:

d. Off-Season/Weight Room/Practice: Black, Grey, or White t-shirts / Black or Grey shorts / Black, Blue, and/or White cleats (when on the field). No jewelry is allowed.

Any player not in appropriate uniform by the start of practice will perform a Dallas mile
7 on 7/Lineman Competitions: Black Football shorts / BMSH Football shirt / White-dominant socks (basic brand logos are acceptable) / Black, Blue, and/or White cleats

A player may not participate in the competition until he is in the appropriate uniform

 In-Season Game Day:
• BMSH jersey (fully tucked in – no tape on jersey);
• BMSH helmet with white chin strap
• BMSH issued belt without tape or other adornments
• BMSH issued socks, worn according to the game day policy
• BMSH cleats
• White athletic tape used in a functional capacity only (defined by the Athletic Trainer)
o Note: any tape used for spatting must be all white, and provided by the player
• Any optional gloves, wristbands, towels, and skullcaps must be plain white (no patterns other than logos)
• Any accessories not described above must be cleared by the coaching staff prior to Game Day
A player may not participate in the competition until he is in the appropriate uniform
g. Month of October (Breast Cancer Awareness): If a player desires to wear pink accessories during games in the month of October, he may do so after expressing, in writing, why it is important to him and may only substitute for the following accessories:
• Gloves, wristbands, towels, or skullcaps
• Athletic tape used in a functional capacity only (defined by the Athletic Trainer)

#3 – Act like a MUSTANG
Personal Conduct: “Players must act with integrity at all times.”
Integrity is the characteristic of doing what you know is right. Every player is expected to conduct himself in a mature, positive, and professional manner in accordance with the BMSH Athletic Code of Ethics always. It is expected that every player understand that he represents not only himself, but also BMSH, the Football Program, his Teammates, his coaches, and his family, and act in a manner that represents those people in the best possible light. Any inappropriate acts will result in consequences, ranging from Lost Playing Time, Extra Conditioning, School Notification, Suspension and/or Dismissal from the football program. Consequences will be determined subjectively by the coaching staff.
