Salesian High School's Chapel
The school chapel was built simultaneously with the new Learning Commons to provide a more accessible spiritual space for the Salesian community. The chapel is open daily for all students, faculty, staff to use, and morning Mass is offered most Wednesdays and Fridays. The chapel was blessed on Tuesday, August 22, by Monsignor Sabato Pilato during a special Mass with students, parents, staff, and benefactors.
The altar was previously used at the Daniel Freeman Hospital chapel. The altar was refinished and installed by Carnevale-Rohr Co., which used special machinery for the installation since it weighs roughly 1000 pounds.
A stained glass window treatment was utilized to add a spirited feel to the school's chapel windows.
Statues and Icons
St. John Bosco, St. Dominic Savio, and Our Lady Help of Christians are prominently displayed in the chapel. All three statues were used in the previous chapel.
The pews used in the new chapel were obtained from a different chapel looking to upgrade their pews. The solid wood pews are sturdy and add a classic church feel to the Salesian chapel. Money donated from other high schools for the renovation of the Salesian chapel was used to purchase the pews.
